Phoenix's Story

AA EQUESTRIAN

Phoenix is an 8 year old BLM mustang. He was bought from the Nevada prison program auction, brought home and ridden by a trainer, except he bucked off the trainer. He has been living on a 10 acre pasture in Eastern WA with a QH and two donkeys.

Trust

Phoenix has come along in leaps and bounds.
His hind feet were never trimmed because nobody could touch them. He didn't like to go into the barn or the shelter for fear he could not escape.
He has now had all four feet trimmed a few times, short sessions to build his trust and confidence.
He now goes in the shelter to eat and the barn to get groomed and tacked up.
He is a pleasure to ride and advances every day in his training and his trust.

Phoenix has changed a lot since he first came in for training. He is progressing nicely, we did have a minor setback when training with a western saddle, so we are back to the english saddle until we find a western saddle that fits him better.

He shed out his summer coat and grew in a very dark winter coat. He stands well for hoof trimming, blanketing, and mounting. He has filled out nicely and is very comfortable at all his gaits. He is a small horse but very strong.

His owner rode him for the first time ever and she was smiling from ear to ear.
